The authors manage here to give a complete overview of the literature on musical development, including its origins and likely future directions.

The first time I read this chapter, I found it quite hard to take in, especially as it was one of the first chapters on music psychology I was introduced to.

In the section on Theoretical Models of Musical Development, I’ve included a diagram to try to give a clearer overview of the framework for this chapter.
